The Whispering Voices of Oxton

Story Hook:

Oxton used to be a quiet little town, full of farmers and shepherds living out their simple lives. But ever since a war broke out between two neighboring states across the mountains, Oxton has become a thruway for mercenary armies, refugees, and a host of shady characters. And after a mysterious disappearance of a local child, contradictory rumors of nefarious influences start making their way around the town.

Can you unravel the mysteries of Oxton? Do you have the resolve to protect the innocents, and the strength to bring the guilty to justice?

About the setting:

Anderton Coast is a homebrew fantasy setting that was created to host a few of my adventures. Here are some high-level features.
  • An Uneven Magic Field: the magic field covers the world in an uneven pattern. Some places are devoid of this field, while others overflow with dangerous and chaotic levels.
  • The first Golden Age of Magic: people have relied on the magical arts since the dawn of time, but the understanding of magic as a science has never been stronger than now! The world is going through its first Golden Age of Magic, where discovery, crafting, and ingenuity are redefining the boundaries of possibility every day. The setting is reminiscent of Renaissance Europe, but which is very quickly transitioning in to the Industrial age, powered by the mysterious magical energies.
  • Quiet Gods: the deities are less overt in this world. While religion is ever-present, gods rarely show themselves in a direct manner. Many people are fervent believers, and will swear by their personal interactions with the gods. On the other hand, there are some that believe that gods do not exist at all. Divine casters source their magical powers from religious artifacts.
